I have the upper gear case separeted from the lower unit and iremoved the 4 1/2" bolts from the swivel housing. I can't get the swivel housing and water pump to come out. My Clymer shop manual says to insert a1/4" steel rod through the steering post and tap lightly against the drive shaft end. this didn't work either. Did my manual leave out a step? If anyone else has run into this problem, please advise if you have the time. This is my first time tearing into a stern drive.
