I recently bought this motor and the guy told me the motor ran when he bought it 2 years ago but hadn't started it since. I got it home and there is no spark on any cylinders(keep in mind i don't know a thing about this type of outboard). Is there something I am missing I have the complete wiring harness with this little red button on it, does it have something to do with this problem?

I'm far from expert on o/b engines, but no spark to any cylinders could be the kill switch. The little red button could be the culprit. It must be held open or extended by a lanyard for the engine to start/run. If you have no lanyard cord, try wedging the plunger out and try cranking.

I think He just bought the outboard, but there is still a kill switch that prevents it from starting if the throttle is engaged.

If there is no kill switch on the control box or in the dash, or if the lanyard and clip is in place, then remove the engine hood. Disconnect the BLUE wire from the terminal board on the starter side of the engine. If the engine now has spark, the ignition switch is bad and should be replaced.
