Nothing needs adjusting. If the gear is ok,and the flywheel is not missing teeth,it's fine.These marine starters do this all the time. Get a can of WD40, and spray it all over the worm gear at the top of the starter. Then,rotate the gear up by hand,and spray the bottom of the worm gear shaft. After it is clean and free, put a drop or two of motor oil or 2cycle oil on the shaft top keep it lubed. You'll have to go thu this routine every season. I don't know why they do that,but they do.<br />Trust me on this one.
