85 hp backfires when starting YYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

have a 85 hp 1987 force, when i first start it it back fires...after it warms up it won't back fire. Please help!!!!!

mines pops during the first initial startup then after that its fine.. been that way forever...

Adjust the air screw and the check the timing.J

It could be back firing due to a lean carb, check yourtiming and carbs .

Try a timing light AND a manual.

I have a 1985 Force 85 hp O/B & every now & then it will pop a backfire when I try to start it, not every time just now & then. I thought I read somewhere that it was normal for it to do this.
