I have a 89 Force 85 3 cylinder. Seems the lower cylinder has gone bad . New power head or tear into it and try to fix it ? Any advice ?

Could be as simple as a blow head gasket.----No point guessing.----Open your tool box.---Start investigating.

I did not investigate personally but I DID have a guy use a bore scope . The bottom cylinder is very tight . When I can I will pull the head ,I do have a head gasket . A hone ,piston and rings ain’t that hard . I did buy another boat. But still love my Bayliner and Force 85 . 25 years reliability.

I know head gaskets are common I’ve had this one changed . Good advice , nothing to loose .

See how bad it is?? lay it flat on a piece of glass and using a feeler gauge.
Most cases it isn't that bad and a new head gasket will work.
But take it off and check for damage??
