85 50hp Merc Tilt

Bought a used 85 50hp merc no tilt/trim, just manual. Have lowered the motor and it locks. How do you release the lock to raise. Can find no lever or release.

You have to put the shift lever into foward gear to unlock.

Duh! Thanks, remember reading something about that, but never tried.
