WH series carbs, the only adjustment is float level. Mix is controlled by changing jets, only recommended for altitude changes. Of course if you start grinding on the ports, shaving the heads, etc, you may have to change jets to compensate.

That said, carb gasket kits are cheap, as is a fuel pump kit. The carbs have quite a few fine passages that can clog up, and they will gather up any debris that escapes from bad hoses, etc. Well worth going through those items, as well as replacing any tired hoses and the fuel filter.

yeah, we got it idling and everything on land, then we put it in gear. that worked out. so we took it to the water, we put it in and noticed the top right carb was spewing a bunch of fuel. so, would this be a reason why the motor dies if we give it gas? we can give it gas in gear on land and it run's ok, just not under pressure

If a carb is spewing fuel, that cylinder is flooding out and not pulling. What else is wrong with the carbs.

Flooding causes fires. Lean can burn down the engine. Pull the carbs and figure out what's wrong with them. If it's crud, fix whatever (old fuel lines for instance) donated the crud.

Do not try to run it like that or you may get a chance to try your hand at financing major engine work.
