When I bought the boat a month ago it worked on the test run. now it doesnt work. I see ( I think) the spedo tube runs in the lower unit. how can I make her show my speed. Not really worried about the speed just like everything to work.

Ayuh,... Make sure the pitot tube is clear, 'n not fouled with debris, where it sees the water stream...

Look at the hole in the L/U in the front edge. They typically get clogged with wood from hitting debris on the water. It doesn't take much to clog one up; even hitting little twigs and things can clog it. I keep a small drill bit in my onboard tool kit to clean out the debris when it gets clogged. Usually it's pretty easy to pop out any stuff in there. If you have air available you can disconnect the hose at the speedo and blow some air through it to make sure it is clear. I did this just a few weeks ago when I had my L/U off for other work and found that I had quite a bit of "stuff" in the line. My gauge has always read fine but it was noticeably smoother in responding once I cleaned out the entire line. Maybe it was just psychological. LOL

ditto on ufm82's comment and that way you don't have to search the leading edge of the lower unit to find the hole.

The tube is non-reinforced plastic so I would use as little air pressure as required to do the job.
