84 evinrude gear handle assembly

hello, I'm in the process of reinstalling the handle and all of the gears that go with handle. including inner gear, and vertical gear to the vertical control shaft. is there a particular order and sequence as to how they all go together.. Thank you, oh by the way the motor is a 1984 evinrude 9.9.. sry
