84/85 140hp Evinrude Tilt & Trim Problem

G'Day everyone,
Little help / advice required for my Evinrude. It is a 1984, possibly 1985 engine, 140hp with power T&T.

The issue I have got is, the motor will not trim up under movement. I can trim the motor up when sitting still in the water, but as soon as I power up, the motor trims down by itself to its lowest position.

I have topped up the fluid in the T&T, well to the most that I think I can get in it anyway, works fine out of the water.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bart.... When you say that the unit trims down all the way, are you saying that the engine actually forces the two trim rams all the way in?

Reason for asking.... the trim mode functions from vertical zero (trim rams all the way in) out to a maximum of 15? (trim rams all the way out). It is this length (degree) of trim that will hold under any power (thrust) the engine propeller can develop.

Beyond that 15? mark, it enters the tilt mode. From any point in the tilt mode, as soon as engine propeller thrust is applied, the engine will be forced down to the trim rams but no further.
