Adding those two together is just short of 19", which doesn't seem to be a standard. But maybe that's why we can't find what AN is, maybe it's not a standard size.<br /><br />By the way, what are you doing up so late

Sounds like a 20" shaft engine.Those nombers won't be exact.<br /><br />Us older dogs don't require as much beauty rest since we gave up beauty for endurance <br /><br />Unless it's Alaska or Australia ,I'll be danged if I know what the A stands for.

So it would be a bad idea to use parts from my 20" motor to rebuild a 25" motor and then put the 25" on my boat. The extra 5" would make a noticable performance difference.<br /><br />Your certainly famous on this board. Lot's of the information I've picked up by reading other posts, has your name around it somewhere.<br /><br />Tater

Unless your boat could be fitted with a jacklate to adapt the engine a 25 in. may be too long.What boat do you have?

It's a 17.5 astro combo.<br /><br />Just noticed you're in corpus christi, vacationed on S. padre last summer, what a great place to relax. The site seeing wasn't bad either. I'm going to call it a night. I need the rest for the looks, fame and endurance

OB... I think I figured out what the AN is for. My motor is a ANniversary edition motor. If thats the case I wonder what was different?

The "A" is for "Alternate color".
