83 starcraft holiday max hp rating

I know were to get a good motor and he will give me a good trade for my 120 but I want to know how big I can go the only thing I can find is the motor and gas can only weigh 805lbs I have no clue how much a motor weighs or how much my gas wieghs I'm not sure which motors he has he said he has a few 4 cyl mercs so I am hoping 1 is a 165hp would I be able to put it in my boat if he has 1 ? I think the 120 is a little low for this boat but I won't even consider doing this if the motor is not in excelent shape gonna go look in a few days to see what exactly he has

Unless you have good metal working skills and the equipment I would stay with a 4 cylinder maybe a newer 140 hp.

The 120/140/165 are all 4 cyl's from what I can find ,I am just not sure if it would be to heavy with the 165hp 4cyl .they look very simalar in size may even be a simalar block from the looks of the pics I have seen really would like the 165hp if it won't work I will prolly just have the 120hp fixed up like new .

The 165 (4 cyl.) is a completely different animal than the 120/140.

A newer 135 (3.0L) would probably perform as well as an older 165.

would a newer 135hp work with my out drive I believe it's a merc .
