I just bought a 16' runabout with the above motor on it. The gas tank is currently in the rear of the boat. I would like to move it to the front or have a perminant tank installed under the closed bow. I was wondering if anyone knew what the longest length of fuel line that the motor would be able to draw from? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this? Or..am I just waisting my time and should not bother?

Thanks.

Donnie.

Re: 83' Merc 80hp - Max fuel line length?

so long as everything is air tight and the fuel line is primed (no air at all in the fuel line) then it should be ok.

You would probably need to pump the bulb a few times to get it through if you dont start it for a while.

It may however put a large strain on the fuel pump so you would need to test on land first me thinks.
