Here is what I have done to this 83 Evinrude 60 to try to get it work

-Cleaned carbs Jets cleaned, float work, gasket good
-Compression tested both cylinders at 91-91.5psi
-Rebuilt fuel pump with strong compression from motor
-Gaskets most all replaced, hoses are sealed with hose clamp

seems like a fuel problem, but I do not see how or where it would be coming from even my mechanic friend doesn't have a clue

In video, Primer bulb is solid, throttle is in "fast start" position, won't stay started in idle position there is gas getting to carbs the fuel pump works great now, does it have anything to do with the "CDI" box, ignition?

Thanks for any help I get! Thank you!

Are u SURE that you cleaned out all the passages in the carb(including under the welch plugs?) Have you tried misting the carbs with premix while it's running to see if it will continue to run while you manual feed it gas?

Agreed either idle circuit still clogged under the welch plugs or float drop is not set to 1 1/8-1 1/2 drop. Also, check fuel pickup tube screen in tank for blockage. Good luck.

Float might be an issue. How was the diaphram under the fuel pump? You can always check spark and make sure it's strong as it should be. But, only needs 3 thrings to run; compression/spark/fuel.

Thank you for all your suggestions, found a spray bottle, upon misting carbs first to start, then heavily misting at fuel throttle it actually ran like it should for a short period of time before my trigger finger could no longer mist any longer. Sounds like I need to get back into the carbs and see if I missed anything possible rebuild? The kit is only 25$ per carb. thanks again

I know that you said you rebuilt your fuel pump but when it starts to die pump the primer bulb. If it picks up then your fuel pump is not right.

Thanks for the reply fireman, that was one of the first things we tried leading up to rebuilding it, even when you really crush the bulb it will still die.

I just re opened the carbs and really cleaned em out good, at first it started and ran OK then started to die again right away.

I tried un-hooking the fuel and just keeping it going with spary bottle, now this did work and worked like it used to run. Would this be a carb problem or fuel delivery
