I am new to this. I have an 82 16 ft Starcraft that I have begun to replace the transom on. I got the deck removed, actually lifted and pushed forward. I have read a couple of ways to do this. I was planning on using 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood using epoxy resin to glue them. I was going to epoxy them to the stern using no fiberglss matting. I was only going to use the 10oz mat to lap in the edges. Is this an exceptable practice? I am going to order the west system. Can anyone guesstimate how much epoxy I will need?

Thanks,
Mark

You are better off using waterproof wood glue, between the plies. I like Gorilla Glue.

Glue the pieces together and also use stainless steel screws to hold it together, while it sets. Use screws just long enough to go through the first ply and just into the second ply and bury the heads. Just leave them in.

I have no idea how much material you'll need. How big is the transom? Is this an aluminum boat or f'glass?
