I have an 82 evinrude 90. I can run at half speed with no problem. When I run about 3/4 in a few minutes the horn alarm starts. The motor does not seem to be hot. Water comes out of the pee hole strong. Let it sit about 15 min and the alarm will stop. Bad water pump?

If impeller older than 5 yrs, change it. Dismantle thermostat housing and check thermostats and valves. However before starting any serious tear down, get an IR gun and verify the real temp and at what temp the alarm gets activated. It might even be a sensor switch fault. Remember to check both cyl banks.

No gauge, an IR temp 'gun' is better. Jut move around and read the temps at cyl heads top and bottom both sides.

Harbor Freight has a cheap one that ought to be good enough for this.

Also, I like having a water pressure gauge, far more accurate than looking at the tell-tale stream. If you've got good water pressure then you're problem isn't the water pump.
