80's Quicksilver Control Box - Need help identifying parts and kill switch question

I've acquired a boat and I'm trying to identify the parts of the control box. The pictures are in the link.


1. An overall view of the box.
2. The kill switch. The boat didn't come with the lanyard so for now I'll substitute a small plastic spring hook. Does anyone have a picture or a description of what the original lever hook/loop looked like?
3. The friction and detent screws. I searched online and found that the friction screw makes the throttle arm stay in position. I coulnd't find any info on what the detent screw does.
4. The inlet. There are some prongs in there but I have no idea as to what used to get plugged in.

#4 allows you to use part# 84-86396a 8, which is a harness to hook up a tachometer and other gauges.

the lanyard is red and looks like a spring made from cloth, soft but has a set to it. Spring clip on one end to clip to your clothes. The other end is just a loop that slips under the bar and over the toggle switch handle. When in the run position the handle is up. When you kill it the loop pulls down on the switch handle then slips off. Loop is just big enough to fit loosely over the handle but it could be larger. Main thing is to get it tucked under the bracket so when pressure is applied it will force the handle down.

Detent may have had to do with the depth of the throttle only button or it could be on the bottom of the handle to remove it. To see it put the throttle in the WOT position and look under the bottom of the handle from the rear. Hex allen.
