8.9 Quake hits Japan, Tsunami for Hawaii 3 AM

8.9 Earthquake in Japan
This thing just hit a while back, set off a large tsunami.

Praying for all those there, including some of our family members.

Possible tsunami for Hawaii 3 am lurking.

Russia, Pacific rim affected as well.

This quake was big. Near Senai, Japan.

Beam is a shallow water wave. Heading???


Know anyone in Hawaii? Call them now. Hope all is well there, and it just turns out to be some good surfing instead.

I have an earthquake monitor on my Mac that's been going off all day. They've had over 30 aftershocks between mag. 5 to over 6.5 since the 8.9. That region's seismic history is incredible.

Some pretty terrifying video and images coming out of Japan.
I saw a video of a tug, with black smoke pouring from the exhaust, as the captain tried to bust through the breakers to get out to deep water. It looked like a "no fail" commitment since I can't imagine what Plan B was.

Prayers up for the people of Japan.

My friend on the big island HI had his marina and sailboat / home trashed.....he and his family ok.
