8.1 Gxi-F ECM?

My first post, because in the 14 years that I have owned my 8.1 Gxi-F, this is the first time I had a repair done at a dealer.

My question is, does anyone know where I can find out what engine a 3817805 ECM would go on?

I took it to my dealer for a persistent idle problem, and they determined that it was caused by the ECM, so I had it replaced.

Picked it up, and while getting it ready to go to the lake, I noticed that the sticker on the ECM is that 3817805 number.

So I went to the Volvo-Penta store on-line, and they call out, plain as day, that I should have a 3883660 ECM.

I'm looking for some kind of independent info before I question the dealer.

Please excuse the graphics, I'm not used to this forum.

Don't know, but the part does look bright and shiny, like a new part should.

I'm more concerned that the ECM is for another engine.

The engine serial number would help.

Problem solved, thanks to all that answered. I finally decided to e-mail the dealer, enclosing the pic of the new module.

He still had the old one, and he was 100% confident the new one was the same, but newer version, confident enough to put it into writing.

The photo below is from your old module unit. You can see that all the information is the same as the new unit we installed except for date and production codes. Volvo makes multiple module kits that use the same module. The difference in the kits are trivial things like bolt patterns for different motors. We are confident that we installed the correct module on your boat and verified that your motor was running properly during our tank test. My parts manager believes he called Volvo Penta to get the part information.
