Nope,.... Nothin' like that I've ever heard of, unless an all out race boat of some sort,.....

I/Os generally shoot for 'bout 5K,....

Thanks, that's what I imagined, will try to find which model and HP the owner thinks his motor is revving at such high wot rpm.

There were a couple of Europe car derived VP engines to be fair. One that comes to mind that had a higher than usual rpm range would be the 16v 4 cylinder aq 171. Terrible in a boat with its failing cam belt and not being suitable for the marine world…but sure did pull some revs. Not sure it was 7k. But would certainly be high.

Ayuh,..... I'd question the accuracy of the tach,.....
Should cross check it with a known good shop tach,.....

The newer VP gas engines that I believe are still GM based go up to 5800 and 6000 rpm.
