79 V6 Crank into 89 150 Crossflow

I have an almost perfect 1979 200 Crank, bearings and ends. My 89' 150 Crossflow's crank splines are completely gone. I know that they say there is a a 76-85 (388306) and 86-91 (396256) but I seem to remember if you have both outside bearings the old crank can be used in the later motors and vice versa. Can someone help me out, thanks.

Go ahead and install it,just use the early model lower crankcase housing and late model upper housing do to seal design on lower and 35amp stator on upper.

Thanks for the info. My motor only has the 9 amp(?) system. So could I just use the 79 stuff on both ends?
