79 v6 86 v6 same parts ?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL What parts could i use from a 1979 evinrude 235, .My outboard is a 1986 v6 200 hp looper. would the lowerunit be the same and could i use the block,etc I do not know if the 79 is a looper or not.<br /><br /> thank you<br /><br /> Jonn

The 1979 crossflow lower unit will interchange if you use the looper shift rod. Nothing in or on the powerhead will interchange except perhaps the coils and spark plugs.<br /><br />The trim unit may be the same but if not you could interchange the clamp brackets and trim as a complete unit. <br /><br />Good luck!
