1979 mercury thunderbolt 20 hp s/n 5510452

After alot of searching i couldn't find the exact answer...

i bought the above mentioned motor with a disconnected kill switch. i purchased a universal lanyard type to replace with. i do not know where the old "salmon" color wire connected to the switch box. i read that it was supposed to be connected on the terminal block with the "blue" wire; however, the OP never confirmed this to correct the issue. i just dont believe in a long term solution of choking the engine to kill it. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

I'm afraid you didn't understand me; however, thank you for the assistance. i have the orginal kill switch, it was just not wired up. The color was a pink color on the opposite side of ground the ground wire. from what i have read it salmon not pink. i don't know where it connects to the switch box, so that when the kill switch is pressed it will complete the ground and kill the spark. i will only be using the choke to stop the engine until i can figure the wiring out. i have went through the maxrules; however, i can find the wiring diagrams on there. i'll look further this afternoon. Thank you for the reply. anyone else have a picture or diagram that can provide the answer. i'm sure that the same wiring was used across multiple mercury years and models. Thank you.
