Hello all !
I have a question and hope I can get a quick answer, Thanks in advance.
I have a 79 Evinrude 35953A which was overheated to point that wiring harness jacket(?) melted somewhat at clamp location on powerhead. It has slightly scored lower cyl. as well. I have no idea of compression since I bought boat/motor combo after this event and cyl. head was removed and gasket lost. so assuming worse case I am looking to replace powerhead with least expensive solution and get on the water ASAP. Then assess damage and solution to it on rainy/windy days LOL.
So I have located a E25 RLCNB (1982?) powerhead which is supposed to be a runner for a very reasonable $100
The S/N on my bad one is E00055xx and E25 is 00744xx
Will the E25 powerhead match up with 35 lower and all other parts involved? is this a doable project?? HP of project is not a concern either.
I believe that I have read somewhere that the difference is carbs of 25/35HP,True??
Regardless of the HP will the powerheads swap? carb on E25 is not available/included so I will need to use my current carb from 35HP, I see the manifold gasket is same but I've not yet compared other parts.
my 35 is remote start/steer and I think the 25hp is rope start tiller steer, right? if so will it be possible to assemble as elec. start using my orig. parts??
Thoughts ?? I am able to do work and do have access to any special omc tools etc. as my best friend is 100+ miles away and OMC master. He is not available today or the next few though and I need to jump on this E25 I've found is reason for quick answer I'm seeking.
Thanks guys!
