I think the linkage between the carb and the<br />dis. is off.<br />Check on that and see if the RPM do not come<br />down.<br />At list look there.<br />I bet something not right there.

Set the idle as low as it well go and then<br />set the timing to the right RPM that should <br />get you close

Rex, what linkage are you referring to? I do not know what the abbreviation "dis." is referring to.<br /><br />If I set the timing to reduce the rpm I have to retard it to 10ATDC, where the spec says it should be around 4BTDC. Are you saying I should ignore the engine spec and retard the timing by 14 degrees?

On top of each carb there is long screw that plugs hole to idle jet, does screw have sealing washer on it? The reason I ask is I did 2 carbs yesterday that uses the same kit, and kit was missing these sealing washers.

Yes, the sealing washers were in the kit and I replaced them on the carb,

Linkage from carb to the distributor.<br />Ingore the timing setting at this time.<br />and just get it run right.<br />Then you can go back and start to fine<br />tune it.

Have you checked the flywheel key has not sheared causing timing to be too far advanced?
