78 35HP Jonny Tach Question

I would like to install a temporary tach on this motor while I play with some different props. Is it even possible to attach a tach on this motor? (Model # 35R78R) Manual start. If so where does the tach wire go off the coil?

Permanently installed tachs no longer get their signal from the coils. They count the AC pulses from the alternator. If no alternator, you have to use an induction tach that senses the pulses in a spark plug wire. Tiny Tach is one such tach, as are shop tachs.
