As some of you from the boat ??? forum know, I just aquired a 22 ft Sea Ray. It has set out in the weather for some time.

The two peices that are part of the windshield walkthru and cuddy access are pretty funky. I think these are not the original pieces but I dunno. The sellor suggested they just needed fresh formica put on.
The inside peice on "nice" srv220's is laminated white to match the interior. The outside hatch is teak to match the two hand rails and other bright work on the otherwise white f/b craft.
Any remarks on these two flat 'hatchcovers would be appreciated. Will a heat gun remove a badly weathered veneer and allow me to apply a fresh layer with contact cement?

And what about an engine cover/box. Is that something that normally get fiberglassed? If I were planning to glass it, would 3/8 ply be ok or should I still go with 1/2" or larger. Do I just build it like an upside down box with 2x2 framing inside?
