I bought this boat and motor reciently and took it out for the first time. It had not been ran in 7 years. The motor started fine, but after about an hour the engine began to chug and run at about half power. Also I dont know what gas mixture to use for this motoe. Thoughts?

Franko11,

You can just about bet your carburetors are fouled, especially if you do not know what kind of fuel was in it.

The correction is to rebuild/clean the carbs. THEY HAVE to be disassembled.

The correct fuel oil mixture is: 0ne pint TCW-3 rated oil with six gallons of 87 octane unleaded gasoline.

It is not something simple like fouled plugs because I realy did not know what mixture to use. I don't believe that the motor ran hot. I did not see any steam.

Please follow what rwise is telling you! That impeller is a disaster waiting to happen, if (when) it comes apart it may clog water passages that are next to imposable to remove! Its cheap insurance and NEEDS to be done!

Your power problem is probably Carbs as stated and you may have glogged the filter!

LubeDude

In addition to the above You should replace the gear oil & get a new set of plugs no matter what size motor.
