It's a 1987 Bayliner and a week ago it fired up and ran like a new boat (4th time out this year). Yesterday it would turn over and run for a couple seconds then cut off. Never could get it to run even with new spark plugs in it. The only thing different was the rpm gauge started smoking when I turned the key to use the power trim. The wire was hot so I just unhooked the wires from the gauge. I don't know if this is related or just coincidental. I'm new to maintaining a boat and would appreciate any advice.
