Last trip out I noticed that I was a little slow to get up on plane and then realized speed is topped out at 20 instead of 35 and rpms at 3800 instead of 5000. In neutral I'm still able to hit 7000+ rpms. I thought it might be a fuel issue however a new filter on the engine and a new filter on the water separator haven't changed the performance at all. Ideas?

There are several reasons that can cause this condition. We really need to know the year and serial number of the motor before we can really give any sound advise on what to look for.

So did the problem start before, during or after installing the new filter? You may go ahead and perform a compression test on all cylinders while your at it.
