75 85hp merc. starting

Hello everyone. This time last year my engine would start right up with out any problems at all. This year i cant get it to start at all. new gas new plugs. I have spark on all four cylenders but no start. if i spray some mixed gas in the carbs nothing. if i spray gas in the spark plug holes it will start but run for only seconds. does anyone have any ideas at all. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks a bunch.

It sounds like your carbs are gummed up. It should start if fuel is sprayed into the carb intakes. You may not have sprayed enough. Spray some fuel don the carb intakes and close the choke shutters manually, and see if it pops. There should be a manual choke knob on top of the top cowling support.

After you try this, you need to clean up the carbs, or it will probably run lean and ruin the cylinders.
