Hi Guys,

I'm restoring a 1975 Bayliner Quartermaster with a '75 1150EL. The control came without a key. The ignition switch has part # 131 C51045 labeled on it. Can anyone point me to a replacement key or switch with new key?

Thanks in advance!

131 is the key Nr. - phone a Merc dealer and ask if they have one.

Re: '75 1150EL Ignition Key / Switch

I found myself in the same situation about 3 years ago with my 1971 Merc 800.

None of the local Merc "dealers" could (or would) help me out. They said it was too old and they were no longer available. I found a little repair shop 2 miles from my home that specialized in older outboard repairs. He had BOXES of old keys of every description and make. I spent a few minutes digging thru the boxes and found 3 of the keys I needed. Cost me $5.00 for the 3 keys.

Mercury didn't offer very many different TYPES of keys then, so your chance of finding a replacement should be good IF you can find some old stock. Call around to some of the repair shops.
