I was driving my boat along when I heard a loud noise then the boat came to a slow stop and the engine was still in gear and the engine reved up even more. I was going at a pretty good clip when it happened. The engine still runs great and it shifts into gear but the prop doesnt move. There was no visable damage to the prop and there was no debis or sea weed near or around the boat. Any ideas what may have happened?? Also is there anywhere on the internet where I can find a diagram of the inner workings of the lower motor unit so I have a better idea of how it works.

Thanks for any help that anyone can give me!

~Dave

you probabley broke a driveshalft . . could have hit a floating under water object. i had one to break . i was trying to motor out of a log jam in a swift river when the prop hit a limb or s0omething and it broke the driveshalft where it goes into the power head right next to spline

Thanks for your response papasage. How much work and money will it cost me to fix something like that. Can I fix it myself or is it a problem that is over my head. The engine is in good shape and runs great but is the cost of a new drive shaft too much, should I invest in a new engine? Thanks for your help!

~Dave
