Hello all,
I recently picked up a 1973 Chrysler 85hp Magnapower outboard (857be) and haven't had any luck getting it started. Starter works great, getting a good blue spark on all the plugs, drained and changed the fuel but nothing. I also tried spraying a little quick start fluid and still no sign of it even wanting to fire up even for a moment. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Anyone knows where I can find a manual for this model? Also, I'm sure I'll be needing some new parts, but they seem hard to find for this year. If anyone knows a place, I would be very grateful.

Thanks!

Also, compression is at around 120 on all cylinders and exhaust is not blocked...

If you have compression and ignition the only thing keeping it from starting when starting fluid is sprayed in might be timing?
Look at the link and sync information at the top of this page.
Also are the plugs showing any indication of fuel (a little 2 stroke oil on them?)
Compression, ignition and fuel are what it takes to fire.

I don't see any link and sync info?
Regarding the plugs, no indication of fuel. They are dry.

Check the flywheel key.
Might be shared.
Set the top cylinder in TDC.
The curved line at the distributor pulley should line up with the flywheel rim.
If not the timing is off, maybe the flywheel is shared.

Thanks! I will check that and if all is good I'll get a mechanic to adjust the timing. Not sure I can handle that one.

You are welcome.
Was it way off?
Flywheel key shared?
Key was fine, the distributor pulley was about 180 degrees off (the alignment marking was off). A previous owner must have changed the belt without ever making sure things were aligned. Went through the timing adjusting steps in the manual and the rest was good. Still didn't fire after that until I adjusted the points gap to manual specs, then it started right away. Pure joy to hear it go ;)
