Hello!

I'm having an issue with my 1972 50hp Johnson. It is cutting in and out. The problem starts during wide open throttle, but will continue when I pull back....it eventually passes, but then will come back.

The motor has a new head gasket and rebuilt carbs.

I'm wondering if I have a coil GOING bad? I do know that I do not have one of the wires from my thermal switch connected because I could not find where it goes on the terminal block. COuld that be grounding out and causing this issue? If so, where should those two wires be connected OR should I just disconnect the other one so both wires are not connect?

THanks for your help.

Use a timing light to check and see if you are loosing spark on a cylinder when it acts up.
