Replaced water pump and finally got lower unit back in place but still no water from pee hole(Lots of air) If I blow air in end of tube toward pump there are no bubbles in water. (Engine is in 55 gal drum)Also, manual tells me to fill lower unit with oil using fill hole. I have a "flush" hole. Is this the same thing? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Kid,
If you blew air through the hose on the tell tale and got no air out the water pump, sounds like your copper water tube isn't seated in it's grommets. Do you hear air like under the motor? If so pull
the l/u back off and insert water tube up into the drive housing until you feel it seat with grommet on the bottom of the motor.
Now push the l/u back up to the drive housing and just before it meets shine a small flashlight to insure the water tube goes into the grommet on the water pump. Also while bolting up the l/u don't let it slide back down and allow the water tube to come out of it's grommets. Now you should have two
slotted screws on the side of the l/u.
Upper screw is the vent and lower is the fill. Open both and fill through the bottom hole allowing any air to escape. When oil comes out of the top hole you're full. Replace the top screw first then QUICKLY replace the bottom screw losing as little oil as possible. A l/u oil pump makes it much easier.
($12 at Walmart) Don't forget the gaskets on top and bottom screws.

Thanks for input. sounds like that's my problem. I have 2 screws on L/U. One is marked vent and the other marked flush. Should there be another marked fill?

Those older motors had 3 ports on the LU.

Top most is the FLUSH plug. It is used to flush water thru the cooling system. The plug opens up into the waterpump housing. DO NOT use this plug in any way when filling the LU with oil.

Middle port is the VENT plug. Remove this plug before attempting to fill the LU with oil.

Bottom port is the FILL plug. It is located on the underside of the gearcase towards the front. It is hard to see unless the motor is tilted up.

Found the fill plug, many thanks. Should I have filled L/U before reinstalling? I never drained it when installing pump kit.
