What is your starting procedure? IF you are starting from the control box (key), and not getting any spark, spray some premix or carb cleaner into the carburetor to get it going. If you are "jumping" the engine, make sure the plug is disconnected from the engine or it will never start. Take it from me. ANd then jump it with the plug disconnected

don't use carb cleaner of ether to try to start that engine. use a mixture of gas and oil 50 gas to 1 oil. go to the engine faq section and read 'awakening a sleeping outboard' before you ruin that engine. then read' engine won't start.' then ask any question no matter how dumb you think they are.
