For Eurolarva, but all help will be appreciated. My little honey begins to miss after it warms up. Runs great cold. Points and condensers, maybe? Also, after sitting in driveway overnight, a little spot of dark oil on driveway. Coming from exhaust port. I have not replaced seals in lower unit. I kind of sense something that's not good. $$$$$ Any suggestions? Thanks, guys!!

I changed the prop shaft seal on my 55 last year. It was fairly easy to do. Got the seal kit at NAPA. eurolarva would have the correct PNs. Have you taken the flywheel off yet? When I took mine off, I found one set of points not opening-no wonder it didn't run well.

If you motor is running rich which most chryslers do the oil you are seeing is probably un burnt exhaust mixed with carbon, oil and gas. I see it too under my motor on occasion. If you are having electrical problems I am of no help. Have never taken the electical apart on mine. I would take the drain plug off of the skeg and check to see color of oil. If water comes out first or milky white oil you have a breech in lower unit. If it is dark brown or amber in color the oil you are seeing is coming from the fore mentioned exhaust. I rebuilt carb and fuel pump and replaced all hoses and clamps for about 30 bucks. One test you can do is when it starts to sputter is choke it real quick and see if engine improves. Also make sure you are putting a little water out of the telltale.

Just curious what is your model number. Mine is 45871. Mine is from66 and actually has some form of battery charger on it. Not sure how it works.

Thanks Scotiany and Eurolarva. Yes, I took the flywheel off before this and filed the points a little. It ran great yesterday until it warmed up. Then it started missing-would not open up. These were the same symptoms before I removed the flywheel. I will install new points and condensers next week--then take it from there.
Carb completely rebuilt, new fuel pump diaphragm, all new fuel lines. What about coils?
Model No. is 456HD----1972.
Almost like one cylinder isn't firing correctly.
Eurolarva, this motor has "Alternator" printed on cowl. I guess it has one somewhere. BTW, NAPA loves those points and condensers $$$$$!!!
Thanks for any assistance.
