70hp switch box TOO MANY X-tra WIRES!!!

HELP!! i just bought a new switch box ( sierra PN 18-5790) for my 70 chrysler. my old box had 6 wires, red-batt+ blue-ign white-grnd white/blk-tach blk-grnd for coil and grey-pos for coil. the new one has all those plus 6 more, grn grn/wht grn/red blk/yellow pink and purple. i don't know what is what and don't want to fry anyhting!! of course there was no wiring diagram in the box.. any help would be much appreciated!! thanxx John

What year/model motor do you have?

18-5790 should work for 1991-1995 model Mercury Force 70hp motors.
There were 2 different switchboxes used on these motors, that is why you have the extra wires. 91-92 models were different from the 93-95 models.

Perhaps you could try contacting Sierra for a wire diagram.
