Re: 70hp chrysler are they good engines??

FWIW, I've got a '69 Chrysler 70 hp that I awoke from an over 20 year hibernation. With help from the fine folks on this board I was able to get her running again. She starts on the first try, every time, now. Is there a USCG rating plate on your boat? If so that should tell you what your HP limitations would be. My motor is on a '69 Valiant (came on the boat from the dealer in 1969) which is a 14 ft craft, but the USCG plate sets a recommended limit of 55 hp. Haven't had any issues yet, but technically I guess I'm "illegal"...
