704 Binnacle Control Trim Not Working

This is an old 704 binnacle, that has individual leads instead of a plug for the harness, and it has decided it no longer wants to trim up. I can swap the green and blue leads in the harness and use the toggle in the down position to trim the engine up. I think this means the fault is in the switch or contacts, but it looks to be encased in epoxy.

Is there a fix for this switch or should I just buy a new binnacle and get a harness side plug to match it? If I need a new binnacle is this the harness side plug Ill need to avoid splicing wires?
Harness Side Plug

Thank yall ahead of time.

I am not following you. All of the trim and tilt switches used in Yamaha 704 control boxes have bullet connectors for the three individual wires.

Ohhh I definitely didn't know that. Every wire under my dash is a bullet connector so I assumed the plug on the 704 pictures I saw was a revision of that setup.
I'll go ahead and order a new switch.

Thank you very much

Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you some aids to identifying the switch that is on your control box.

By the way, what is the model of your motor? Is the year of the motor more or less the year of the boat?

The engine model is 200AETO so I think that makes it a 200ETXN in the American market. I think that makes it an 84 and I just mounted it on a 74 Mako 20. Not sure how it made it to SC.

Give me the complete engine ID and I can tell you the US equivalent model.

I'll grab a picture of the tag when I get back home and post it up.

Did the motor and 704 both come together and just get put on the 74 boat?

I received the controls and engine together. My buddy's parents actually had this engine on a boat we would ski behind as kids and it was the same 704 binacle back then.

well, in that case it is a very good chance the 704 is the same vintage as the motor
