What would be a fair price for a 1973 70 HP Evinrude model 70673D in very good to excellent condition? Engine is mechanically sound, electronics are good, no leaks, has not been overhauled or repainted. All three cylinders came in at 140-145 PSI on the compression test. Cold starts nearly instantly, idles and accelerates smooth. Cosmetically, I'd grade it about 95% +. Not a single scratch or ding on the lower unit and skeg. Comes with all controls and a stainless prop. Fresh water use only. No, I'm not trying to sell, I'm looking to purchase this motor and would like to know what a fair price range would be for this model in this condition.

I have a 1986 70hp Johnson and I love it!!! It runs like a champ! I paid $500 for mine in excellent running condition. Mine was cosmetically challenged but some OEM johnson gray fixed that right up :)

Re: 70 HP rude...fair deal?

location has a LOT to do with the value of a motor...even in the days of the ebay and the internet auctions site...because shipping those motors is cost prohibitive....

in the northeast I cant see that motor going for more than $1000 MAX!!!!!!

more like $800

but the truth is, it should have the same value for someone who wants to keep it for the rest of its life, as a 1990 70 hp in the same condition!!!!

Around here, just across the river from st louis, I would say you might get, from 500 to 700 for that motor.

If it's as good as you say, up to $1000. Very good motors, the 3 cyl. loopers. I raced the 1975 75 for 9 years.
