70 HP johnson outboard Motor

I have a 1999 70 hp johnson outboard motor. It runs perfectly well but when i slow it down to come into the Dock it shuts off. What could be the problem?

Does it always happen or only when the engine is hot like right after running it at WOT?

When it shuts off, check your spark with an open air gap spark tester set at 7/16 " and see what you have. A place to start.

This happens even when i start it up using the fast idle lever. when i take down this lever the motor will stop. THE RED LIGHT FOR Service engine is on most of the time.

Sounds like the low rpm passages in the carb are clogged.
