7 hp ted williams

i have an old 7hp ted williams i just got it running and it dosent run to bad so i dont mind putting a little time and money into it .when i shut it down it leaks gas out of the exhaust i have taken the carb apart and cleaned it and everything seems to be fine. has anyone had this problem or know what it is so i can get this taken care of any help is appreciated thanks

I've seen those Tecumseh engines do that when the needle isn't seating, and when the fuel pump element, (duckbill), has a rip in it. I always get the duckbill between thumb and forefinger, squeeze a little, and roll it over while looking at it thru a magnifying glass. Tears in those things can be hard to see.
