I put an overhaul kit (new float, gaskets etc.) on my 1982 7.5 hp merc ....I've done this once before about five years ago and had no problems. My new issue is when I pull on the handle to start, fuel sprays out a tiny brass tube that sits on the right side of the butterfly valve ... I thought it might be that one of the gaskets or seals was sucking air, so I dismantled it and rechecked everything ....to no avail...still sprays. What is that little tube for and why is it spraying fuel? And most importantly, how do I make it stop?
