just got a 7.5 mec outboard serial # says a 1969, its been sitting for 6 years and owner said it ran great. got it going but I do not see water coming out anywhere and it seems real hot. Should I not see water coming out some where from the cooling? I have tried the search feature here on 7.5's and nothing comes up... looked for a manual int the stickies but unless I missed something its not there. Any insight/ help would be great!

Sitting for 6 years? Definitely needs a new impeller for the water pump.
Replace/repair the water pump, check the oil level in the gear box, and fire it up again. Most of those motors had a tell tale, but not all. I have a '70 model and it's at the rear left as you look at the front of the motor.

Actual factory manuals are basically not available. You can do the seloc thing which I did and found it to be fairly worthless. You can get a CD on ebay for 10 bucks, but I've never seen it. There is a pdf you can download which is for multiple motors and has some value, but not much.

Re: 7.5 hot

thanks for the help Bob, I changed the impeller and put high pressure air to clean out the line and it now has a good stream of water coming out the starboard side
