Going down lake slowed down cut motor off while in gear. Now motor won't start. Was told it would lock the motor up doing this while it is in gear. Has anyone heard of this?
I do it all the time with my boat. So does it try to crank over? Are you sure you have it in neutral and have checked the neutral switch? Most of the time I shut the motor off while it is in gear. Never had any problems with it.
Always go to neutral first with a Bravo drive, as they can be impossible to get back into neutral without the engine running or the prop turning.
Shutting the engine off while you are still moving can be a problem if what pushes up the exhaust system and gets into the cylinders. You then have a hydrolock.
