Good afternoon all. A couple questions for the knowledge base here. I have a new 6Y5-8350T-D0-00 tach & a 704-82570-13-00 key switch. My motor is a 2001 SX200TXRZ. 1) Does this motor have a 6 pole or 12 pole stator, to set the tach to? 2) What is the blue wire coming off the tach for? 3) What does the red wire from the key switch go to? I can only find a -12-00 diagram & it shows red to red, but there is no red on the -13-00, only a pink that it says to unplug for 2003 & earlier f30-60. Thanks for your help, great reading on here.

blue is normally for a light in tach.
red is normally 12V +battery voltage to the key switch

I was under the assumption the key switch gets it's power from the main harness, via the cranking battery.

yes that is why I said to the key switch, not sure why it would have red to the tach unless it needs + all the time for something

Red is for other Yam instruments that need constant battery power. Also can be used for the memory of a radio if one has one installed.

Constant battery power = red wire.
Key on battery power = yellow wire.
Relay on battery power = red/yellow wire.

when the key is on yellow is 12V+
when the main relay is energized red with yellow stripe is also 12V+

Is that what you all define as “ main relay “? Sorry, I’m a commercial electrician, have done lots of heavy DC motors & control as well, just clarifying the definitions.

Yamaha is not always consistent by the way with respect to wire colours.

Best to look at the applicable service manual. Then see if the wiring agrees with the SM.
