6hp not running right

I have a 6hp evinrude model 6504r, serial no. J0005353, and i think its a 1974 model.i bought it several years ago and used it all the time. i haven't used it in several years. its always started and ran good until this year. had it at the lake today and it ran alright for about 30 minutes and then died. acted like it wasnt getting any gas. it started up and reved up while in neutral, but when i put it in gear it would run rough and die. any suggestions

Maljon,<br /><br />Check the following.<br /><br />1. Do you have spark on both cylinders?<br /><br />2. Do you have good compression (even) on both cylinders.<br /><br />I would be willing to bet ,your carburetor is gummed up. I would rebuild it anyway and go from there.
