6hp Johnson Seahorse

I have a stuck shifter,and I removed the low end unit.I removed the shift rod and was expecting to find some corrosion but there was very little. I did notice a slight bend in the shaft,can anyone tell me if this is normal or might this be my problem. My manual dosen't depict it very well . Thanks John

I believe that the slight bend is normal. the manual even mentions it if i recall correctly.
